Touch Trigger Probes

Touch Trigger Probes:
The Workhorse

Hundreds of thousands of coordinate measuring machines are being used daily in the world and 93% of them have touch trigger probes!

The most popular touch probe in the world is the Renishaw TP20. This system provides the following benefits: it is a small light system, is compatible with all probe heads and it can be used with a manual or DCC coordinate measuring machine. TP20’s have a module stylus unit which must be exchanged when utilizing longer styli to optimize precision.  Their kinematic mount allows fast changes of the styli both manually or on a stylus changer. An additional benefit is during a collision  - the module disconnects protecting the main probe body.

The TP20's stubby brother the TP6 is ideal for sheet metal work as it has extra large stylus travel and can carry longer styli.

Strain gauge technology probes are now gaining popularity for companies requiring high accuracy combined with the capability of using longer styli without degrading the accuracy.  The TP200 is a strain gauge probe about the size of the TP20 but encompasses a stylus module that must be exchanged when longer styli are used to retain good metrology.

We are well versed in touch probe technology. If you need any information or are unsure of which probe to choose, contact us and we will always help you.
