A one-day general overview of the GD&T engineering language in accordance with ASME Y14.5 – 2018. The focus will be on the definition and interpretation of common symbols and modifiers. Advanced concepts will not be covered. The course is suitable for beginners as well as those looking for a GD&T refresher.

- General overview: geometric characteristic symbols, rules, terms and definitions
- Discussion of GD&T’s strengths and advantages: as a design tool, as a manufacturing aid, and as an overall communications facilitator
- Tolerance Zones: definition, and application to each geometric control GD&T Symbology: definitions of all 14 geometric controls and modifiers
- “Bonus” Tolerance: definition and how to take advantage of it
- Datum Reference Frames: definition, proper construction and selection
