How do I register for training course? You may fill out the registration form included in our 'Training Information Package' and e-mail or fax it back to us. You can also contact us directly by to inquire about class availability. How can I get technical support? The easiest and fastest way is to e-mail your questions or concerns directly to techsupport@cmmxyz.com, including your contact information. Your e-mail will be answered by one of our applications technicians as soon as possible. If you do not have any e-mail access, you may phone us and your call will be directed to one of our applications technicians. What is ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation and how does it relate to my calibrations? ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation is an international standard that ensures the technical competence of calibration service providers. Although many of the requirements of this standard are similar to those of the ISO 9000 standards, there are additional requirements specific to the field or discipline of service being offered. Why do CMM calibrations take so long? The duration of a CMM calibration is directly related to the size (measuring strokes) and condition of the CMM as well as the scope of work completed during a calibration. Equipment that is kept clean, well maintained and cared for can be calibrated to meet performance specifications relatively quickly (5-8hrs for most small to medium sized bridge-style CMM's). Conversely, equipment that is abused and neglected usually requires significant cleaning and repair prior to even commencing the calibration process. What is an "error compensation map"? An 'error compensation map' refers to the electronic 'signature' of your CMM that allows it to measure to the accuracies specified. Over the past twenty years, CMM accuracy has improved considerably due to electronic error mapping. The 21 error parameters (7 per axis) that are tested and verified during the calibration process are updated in the error compensation map based on the system's actual measuring capability. This ensures that when you are measuring parts/ features, the final measured results are compensated electronically to negate the inherent inaccuracies of mechanical components. As error compensation capability is largely specific to manufacturer, you MUST ensure that your service provider has the ability to BOTH access AND adjust your CMM's error compensation map. How much does a CMM calibration cost? CMM calibration cost is dependent on the size of machine and the scope of work requested but range from $400-$4000 with most machines averaging $800-$1200. Generally speaking, the larger the CMM, the greater the cost. CMM offers discounts on calibration service based on frequency and number of machines to be calibrated. Please inquire.
