When Novacro Machining Inc. President Peter Pavone called us regarding his desire for a complete upgrade on his Gantry CMM, little could we imagine the size of this "beauty". His Gantry CMM was a whopping 6M x 3M x 3M measuring strokes.
Novacro Machining Inc. is a family-owned business in Stoney Creek, Ontario concentrating on the precision machining of giant castings for mining, aerospace, marine and medical industries. Of course, a company with this machining capacity required a large CMM.
Quality manager Scott Thompson realized that when it comes to measuring parts from CAD data only one software fit the bill and of course that was PC-DMIS. An integral component of the upgrade on this giant machine was the installation of a new Hexagon Global Controller by CMM. The Global Controller's infinite machine parameter dynamics file soon had the big Gantry performing optimally.
Uptime and reliability is a paramount issue at a Novacro, where a promise made is a promise kept. Canadian Measurement-Metrology Inc. was chosen because of our reliable and efficient service record on Novacro's other machine a Brown & Sharpe Xcel 12.20.10. Now both machines run PC-DMIS thus minimizing training time yet maximizing machine flexibility as some jobs can be inspected on either CMM. The upgrade to PC-DMIS took place in April 2007.
